Reading Challenge: R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril (RIP) VI
Hello my lovely readers! You may remember that last year I participated in Carl of Stainless Steel Droppings’ RIP V. Well this year I’m participating in RIP VI! It consists of embracing the spirit of fall for the months of September and October by reading mystery/suspense/thriller/dark gothic/horror/supernatural from your tbr pile along with a group of fellow readers. It’s a great way to celebrate both fall and a love of those genres.
Last year I didn’t do too well with the challenge, largely due to personal circumstances beyond my control. This year I’m determined to finish Peril the First for which I’ll read four books that fit into any of the above-mentioned categories.
My potential reads that fit into the challenge (from bottom to top of tbr pile) are:
- Hunt Beyond the Frozen Fire by Gabriel Hunt
- The Lady in the Lake by Raymond Chandler
- Dark Harvest by Norman Partridge
- Horns by Joe Hill
- Deeper Than Dead by Tami Hoag
- The Mummy by Anne Rice
- Queen of the Damned by Anne Rice
- From a Buick 8 by Stephen King
- Symphony of Blood by Adam Pepper
Obviously I have plenty to pick from, so suggestions are welcome!
Ah, wonderful to have you in again this year. I’m hoping to read more of Chandler’s The Simple Art of Murder for the challenge. I’ve enjoyed the stories I have read in it thus far.
Oddly enough I just posted on another participant’s site that I hadn’t read Anne Rice’s The Mummy in forever and I’d really like to read it again.
Hope this year’s challenge is much more enjoyable for you!
Thanks, Carl! Although I wasn’t a great participant last year…..heh.
I’m leaning toward The Mummy just because I’m more in a mummy mood than a vampire mood right now I think.
Yes, Anne Rice is a great author to kick off the RIP season!
She certainly is a crowd favorite! With good reason 😉
It looks like you have some atmospheric books to enjoy. Happy reading!
Thanks! I’m eclectic, I know.
Some interesting choices, haven’t read any of these so will look forward to your reviews, see if anything takes my fancy. But I’m afraid I don’t think I will be taking part myself this year. Already finding the two challenges I’m doing…well challenging with the fact I am reading less this year overall anyway.
I’m sorry you won’t be participating this year, BUT you’ve been keeping up an impressive, steady pace with your other two reading challenges so far this year. 🙂
