About

A white woman with curly brown hair stands in front of a blue backdrop. She's wearing glasses and a green top and is smiling.

Hi, I’m Amanda!

I’m an author of speculative fiction and nonfiction exploring themes of identity, addiction recovery, and environmentalism. As a passionate reviewer, I focus on LGBTQIA+ literature, as well as thrillers and sci-fi by women and nonbinary authors. I’m a sober, happily married, queer, bisexual woman (she/her), based in Massachusetts, and I’m thrilled you’re here!

I’ve published three novellas, and my short stories and creative nonfiction have appeared in both online and print magazines. I’m also proud to have had my monologues produced. Be sure to explore my Publications page for more of my work!

I have a BA in English and American Literature and History from Brandeis University, with a minor in Religious Studies. I also hold a Master’s from Simmons College. While formal education is valuable, I believe learning is a lifelong journey, fueled by curiosity and an open mind—one that should be accessible to everyone.

On this blog, you’ll find book reviews of thrillers, sci-fi, fantasy, historical fiction, romance, and nonfiction. I love exploring a wide variety of genres and hope you’ll join me on this reading journey!

You can also catch me on my podcast, Acutely Amanda, where I alternate between short fiction episodes and cozy creative explorations—part storytelling, part crafting, all heart. Listen on YouTube or your favorite podcast app.

For a more personal connection, I send out a monthly newsletter, Dispatches from the Den, with cozy studio notes, behind-the-scenes sneak peeks, and thoughtful tips for living a handmade, imaginative life.

Hey Knowledge–Sorry it took so long for your comment to show up. It got filtered as spam for some reason, and it took me a bit to notice it. Anyway, thank you very much for the kind words/encouragement!

Thanks for the comment. I’m excited to check out your blog.

How did you find me? Is it because I’m on a library board or did you not know that?

Also, strange coincidence, one of my all time favorite bands is Wolfie.

Hi Jessica, thanks for the return visit!
You know the tag surfing feature in WordPress? I have “Boston” as one of my tags in that, and your recent trip to Boston was tagged as such. I had no idea you’re on a library board, just saw your trip to my city. Fun coincidence!

Hey, thanks for visiting. You sound like someone I should be best friends with if I am in Boston – coz you are a librarian! :D

Aww, you’re so sweet! Thanks for taking the time to make a return visit.

Hi there, you just commented on my DNF review of The Lucifer Code (good move taking it off your TBR list by the way) and came over to visit. I live just north of Boston and work downtown, and thought I’d leave you a comment! I like your blog so I’m sure I’ll be back!

Hello! I would like to send you a note to request a book review, but don’t see how to contact you. Will you direct me to your contact info? Thanks!

      1) It’s in the final paragraph.
      2) I’m not currently accepting any review requests, alas.
