Friday Fun! (New Book Blogger/Bookstore Opportunity and Blog Tour Updates)
Hello my lovely readers!
This was honestly a very long week for me. Work has been very busy, and I had a couple of stressful personal situations come up. No worries though. All is well now. 🙂
*knock on wood*
I’m glad I planned ahead and took a vacation day this week. I went for a very long walk along the Charles just taking in nature and the sounds of summer around me. Then I went home and baked muffins. By wisely taking downtime moments like this throughout the week, my stress levels weren’t quite so bad.
In any case, today I just want to let my fellow book bloggers know of a new opportunity. Little Red Reviewer and her friend Darkcargo have taken it upon themselves to start an awesome project entitled Bookstore Bookblogger Connection. This is entirely a labor of love in which they are attempting to match up book blogger reviews (currently of just scifi and fantasy) to bookstores to be add to their displays. It’s good publicity for the book bloggers, and a neat new way for bookstores to find books to recommend. Finally the weekly update for the Waiting For Daybreak
Ellie Hall graciously hosted a guest post in which I explain how the tagline for the tour, “What is normal?” relates to the book.
Eva’s Sanctuary interviewed me. Among other things, you can hear many more details about my busy medical librarian job.
Eva’s Sanctuary also offered a review, stating, “This is a unique zombie tale, but well worth the read. I think you will be quite surprised.”
Last but not least, today Lily Element posted a review, suggesting it to readers, “if you want something different and enjoy zombie books.”

Friday Fun! (Talkin Bout a Heat Wave)
Hello my lovely readers!
After an oddly cool month (which I was soooo not complaining about), Boston got hit starting Wednesday with a heat wave. We’re talking 97 to 100 degrees (36ish degrees for my non-US followers). You guys. I’ve. Been. Dying.
I am a northern girl. Cold weather is what I am all about. Even if it’s super cold out, that is easily remedied by an electric blanket, hot chocolate, and a good book. What’s not to like about that picture? Hot weather though. Ugh. When it’s hot out your entire body is coated with sweat and then you proceed to look like a furry because your cat’s fur sticks all over said sweaty skin and everything itches and your feet are so swollen that you get blisters and bloodiness everywhere and…
Ok, maybe a lot of that is just me. But still!
I tried so damn hard not to use my ac at all this summer, but around midnight on Wednesday night when my hair had dried in a record 30 minutes post cold shower I decided I had to cave, and I put in my ac unit all by myself. (Sorry neighbors for the timing of that adventure). In any case! The gym must be working, because I was successful. Nothing was dropped and lifting that unit didn’t even seem that hard. I am, however, relegated to sleeping on the couch directly in front of it until this heat wave is over.

I’ve also been working on Ecstatic Evil‘s formatting and cover issues. I am soooo glad I decided to do a novella first to practice. I’m happy to say that the formatting issues are now entirely taken care of, and in response to multiple reviews not enjoying the cover, I’ve decided to give it a new one. The original cover was designed by a friend. Designing Waiting For Daybreak‘s cover showed me what style works for me and that I can do it myself. So I’ve come up with a cover for Ecstatic Evil that will be designed by me in the more linocut fashion that you see on Waiting For Daybreak. Anyway. The new Ecstatic Evil cover will be announced next week, and there will be a surprise to celebrate it. 🙂

Friday Fun! (A/C, Ribbon Cutting, Garden)
Hello my lovely readers! I hope you all are enjoying the long, hot days of summer. I am so grateful that we put in my a/c unit last weekend. It’s been up in the 90s and humid all week, and I would have been pretty miserable sitting in my attic apartment without it, particularly after biking home from work! Besides biking and cooking, I haven’t been doing too terribly much in the hours off of work. Just hanging out and vegging out. Everyone needs a week like that once in a while though, eh?
It’s been an eventful week at work. The intranet that I’ve been working so hard on (along with others from each department in the hospital) was officially launched. Yay! Hopefully this will make everything easier, particularly once our patrons get used to using it. Additionally, ever since I started working here, construction has been going on converting the floor the library is on into an education and research center. My hospital is focusing more in on academics and such. I’m excited about the change, as it means the library is now conveniently located to the Chief Academic Officer, Chief Education Officer, Residency Training, and more. Anyway, this week was the official unveiling and ribbon cutting of the new floor, and people have started moving into their offices already. It’s nice to be on a floor bustling with education instead of construction.
In container gardening news, my pepper plants are growing like weeds (har-har). One tomato plant is still struggling, and the other is going at a fairly normal rate. I did take BookishBella’s advice and fertilize them all. I believe struggling tomato plant grew a tiny bit afterwards, but the pepper plants just shot right up overnight. I’m thinking my kitchen might just be more conducive to peppers than tomatoes. I also planted onions, which seem to be doing alright. Unfortunately, my kitty seems to have an affinity for them, which is super odd as she’s never given any of the other plants a second look. We have to keep stopping her from trying to eat the onion shoots. I’m thinking a few have already been lost to the cause when I wasn’t looking. I do think it’s pretty odd she chose onions of all things to want to nom on.
